Now let's see if I can convince Doug to make it a full-fledged Shop Event ....

It sounds like fun, although he's a little unsubtle in his suggestions. And why is travel from the past recommended for beginners? Is it easier to dress and act from actual history than from an imaginary future?
We don't list all our books online -- or even most of them. But we sell a few things over at the Advanced Book Exchange, and you can click here to browse them!
We are a used and antiquarian bookstore in Hyde Park, Chicago. Drop by for a selection of everything under the sun, or check out our website at www.ogaraandwilson.com . We stock affordable newer books as well as beautiful old treasures -- not to mention odd little antiques, old magazines and other vintage items -- so O'Gara and Wilson is a trove for collectors and casual browsers alike. We'll be using this blog to talk about neat things around the shop, tell a few stories about the bookstore business, announce upcoming discounts, and more. ~ Are you a LiveJournal user? We have an LJ feed: ogarawilson. ~ Hours: Monday - Friday 11-7; Saturday 11-8; Sunday 12-6. Address: 1448 East 57th Street (between Harper and Blackstone).
Please, feel free to browse our blog or leave comments -- just like you would in the store. If you like anything you see here but can't come into the store and buy it, you can always have it shipped to you -- just call (773.363.0993) or email (ogarawilson37@sbcglobal.net) and we'll work out the details.
We're now on Facebook!

We Buy Books and Estates
We can only sell used books because we buy them first! If you have a library or estate with lots of books and don't want to drag them all to our store, we make house calls, too. (In fact, we do a limited trade in antiques and collectibles as well as books, so we might be able to buy more than just books from your estate!) We don't buy textbooks, romance novels, or self-help, but we'll consider most other books.
Our Staff
Alan -- divinity student and hilarious prankster
Colin -- one-man band and black-belt boy wonder
Doug Wilson -- owner and storyteller extraordinaire
Jill -- Doug's wife, and the power behind the throne
Joan -- kindly ex-Navy nurse and bibliographer
Lydia -- mysterious stranger with a brash kind of irony
Rory -- philosopher and amateur bookbinder
Shelley -- fascinatingly quiet; maybe she's really a ninja-vampire

Victoria
Hmmm ... what kind of subtle suggestions were you thinking?
